Like a spider spinning a web: if you just change the strands of the web, the spider will continue recreating the old pattern in new areas. If you change the spider the entire web will look differently.
What do I mean? Coaching is about creating a different kind of energy in your life that takes the pressure off you. The biggest shift can come as you move away from working so hard, from struggling with everything, all the time...to finding the next small step and focusing on that. With ease. Just that. By looking at our thoughts, and questioning them, we can get better at knowing what to do next. We can get better at recognizing all the ways we complicate knowing what we know.

When you come to me to tell me about your physical pain, it's rare that there isn't emotional pain mixed in. You may not even know about how it's affecting you until we start talking. In seeking new tools to work more completely with your pain, I completed the intensive Martha Beck Wayfinder Life Coach Training. The shifts I've seen in my own thinking and in working with others are incredible, and at the same time, may look like no change at all from the outside.
The basis of the work I do with coaching tools is that we often think that our actions and behavior determine our thoughts, but it’s actually the reverse: our thoughts influence our behavior. We can use our will-power, we can try to behave in certain ways that we think are right, but if we don’t shift the thoughts behind the behavior, it’s nearly impossible to make long-term changes in our actions.
If I constantly tell myself “I don’t deserve to succeed in my work,” I will always see the ways I don’t succeed. No matter how hard I strive, I won’t think I’ve done enough.
If I have the running commentary “I’m so busy, I never have enough time for myself,” I will continue to see the ways that this is true, without making space for questioning the activities that keep me so busy.
The tools that I've learned can help you clarify what you want most from life, and how best to trust that you know what to do. I don’t tell you what you should do, I ask powerful questions to help you uncover your own answers.
